Functions of Creative Rugs from Almedahls

Our rugs provide a number of both familiar and less familiar functions sought after by architects and interior decorators:

Statement Of Aesthetics
With choice of design, texture, shape and colour, rugs are signature furnishing items which will advance the expression of style and chosen design language.
Sound Absorption
A rug plays a role in the acoustic design of the room as the rug will contribute to curb distortive sound in public spaces. Our rugs are sound tested and acoustics classified.
Hygiene
A rug will retain dust and dirt which may otherwise circulate in the room and lessen the quality of the air and the perception of cleanliness.
Accentuates Furniture
Rugs accentuate the furnishing chosen for the room and enhance the overall interior. Sometimes by providing a colour- or texture-based contrast to other material choices.
Comfort And Wellbeing
Few humans fail to notice the soft, pleasant tactility of a rug, the sense of warmth and the richness of the material which brings comfort and sends a message about having made an effort.
Definition Of The Room
A rug allows the interior decorator to create visual and physical spaces in the room; e.g. by introducing functional zones, boundaries or paths of traffic.
Flame Retardancy
The majority of our Creative Rugs are inherently flame retardant as flame resistance is built into the fibre of the rug.

Yarn Qualities

Wool is the main fibre for our carpets. A natural material with roots back to the dawn of time. Throughout the centuries it has been appreciated
for its excellent characteristics. Wool is resilient, hardy, easy to dye, resistant to dirt and liquid, easy to clean, non-inflammable, and it
insulates against both heat and cold.
We spin our yarn in two qualities: Spirit and Hardtwist. Each with its unique expression. Both made of 100% New Zealand wool.
Spirit consists of softly twisted long and light wool fibres that give a smooth surface, soft as velvet. Spirit comes in 140 clear colours.
Hardtwist is an endurable tightly twisted yarn with a rougher surface structure. We dye Hardtwist in 53 different colours.
We also use flax for some of our carpets because of the beautiful nuance variations made possible by the flax yarn.
The Almedahls colour chart for dyed yarns is perfectly coordinated with our plain coloured curtains and furnishing fabrics. All part of a concept for easy coordination.

Make your own

How do you envision your next project? Take advantage of our textile experience and carpet expertise, and make your architectural visions come true. Almedahls’ design studio has many years of practice in the art of developing carpets for public spaces. Collaboration with us gives you access to a complete toolbox including sizes, pile heights, techniques, yarn qualities, and dyes.
The starting-point can be a specific detail from the interior, a chosen theme or just a wish for something unique and special. Together we take part in a creative process with our knowledge and resources at one side of the table. And your ideas, outlines and plans at the other.
We guide your visions step by step towards realization and a customized room-unique carpet. We give you the perfect match between architecture and carpet manufacturing.

Care instructions

Thanks to the sensitive wool fibre that springs back after pressure, our carpets have a natural resilience and the ability to keep their original shape for many years. If you have had quite heavy furniture on the carpet, you can help the wool by brushing it up again. Wool carpets look untouched for a long, long time, and if you care for them you prolong their life even further.
To maintain the original look and quality of your carpet, you only need to remember three of advices: One, vacuum often. Two, remove stains immediately. Three, follow the washing instructions and wash when necessary – preferably at a dry cleaning.
The vacuum cleaner is the best friend of your carpet. Use it once per week and use it carefully.
Stains and other dirt must be quickly removed. We recommend a dishcloth or similar, to absorb spilled fluids. Dry dirt particles are best removed with a spoon or the top of a knife, and followed up with recommended after-treatment against stains.
