Class 0
Rooms with basic cleaning standards
Requirements:
- Curtains can be installed and must be washed once a year or when visible dirt appears.
- Staff and conference rooms may be equipped with washable textiles.
Usage areas:
- Areas without patient presence.
Class 1
Rooms with enhanced cleaning and hygiene
Requirements (in addition to Class 0):
- Healthcare fabrics must be suitable for wiping and disinfecting or be removable and washable.

- Waiting rooms
- Day areas
- Elevators
- Corridors
- Public restrooms
- Staff rooms
- Special-purpose rooms
- Meeting rooms
Class 2
Intensive cleaning and specialised usage
Requirements (in addition to Class 0 and 1):
- Textiles and upholstery must endure frequent cleaning with specified agents and help identify stains or fluids.
- Solar and blackout curtains should be installed between glass panes or externally; roller blinds must withstand cleaning and sanitising.
- Operation must use wipeable bead chains or motorised controls.
- Curtains must be washable at 70°C, with a minimum of two washes per year or after contamination.

Class 3
Sterile environments
Requirements (in addition to Class 0, 1, and 2):
- No curtains or solar protection are allowed.
Usage areas:
- Operating rooms and surgical suites
- Sterile technical units
- Dialysis and endoscopy units
- Intensive care units, including neonatal care
- Intervention laboratories
- Infection wards
- Patient rooms for highly infectious patients

Hygiene and washing
Our textiles are designed for demanding healthcare environments where hygiene is critical. Our fabrics can be washed at temperatures up to 70°C, effectively combating bacterial spread.
- Washing Instructions: The recommended 70°C washing temperature is specified on the care label.
- Tested Durability: Laboratory testing at 72°C confirms that our fabrics maintain their quality and functionality even under repeated high-temperature washing.
Sun protection fabrics for healthcare
Almedahls’ Hygiene Concept offers a complete series of sun protection fabrics that meet the strictest hygiene standards, including transparent, translucent, and blackout options.
As a trusted supplier to healthcare environments, we ensure that our fabrics can be surface disinfected using solutions containing 45% isopropanol and surfactants. This guarantees durability, compliance, and the highest levels of cleanliness.
