Almedahls is rooted in strong Nordic design traditions dating right back to the foundation of the company in 1846.
We create interior textile solutions for public spaces and homes. Our products span from solar shading fabrics, and upholstery and curtain fabrics, to complete dynamic solar protection solutions, rugs, and modular wall furniture. We offer solutions to manage acoustics, daylight and hygiene – and to improve wellbeing.
Uncompromising quality, unique contemporary design, and sustainability runs through everything we do. We are fundamentally driven by relationships with our customers.
We have chosen a guiding path defined by our NORDIC design heritage, a dedication to build FUNCTION into our products, and a pledge to stay IN MOTION.
Our aim is to contribute to improving everyday life by creating better environments to work, study, create, play, meet, eat, sleep, and enjoy – quite simply; A better place to be.
Almedahls is one of the oldest businesses in the western part of Sweden and has been proudly cultivating and manufacturing textile design products for generations.
Our founder, Hans H. Wesslau from Gothenburg, established in 1846 a textile factory for linen fabrics in a valley just outside of Gothenburg. The company is named after his daughter “Alma” whom died at a very young age, and the location of the company in a valley (“dal”) – hence; Almadals.
Later the name modernised to Almedahls and whilst the area is since long included in the city of Gothenburg it is still to this day named after the company; Almedal. Today our head office and manufacturing are in Kinna about 45 minutes outside of Gothenburg.
Product-wise the first 100 years were focused on weaving of linen cloths, whilst over the next 75 years our product scope changed to cotton/linen and cotton fabrics and then to mainly polyester fabrics with a large emphasis on dying, printing, and coating techniques.
